  • 2 - Green apples
  • 1/4 cup - Toor Dal
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - Rasam powder
  • 1 tbsp - Lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard seeds+cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp - Asafetida powder
  • 2 - Dry Red Chillies
  • 5 - Curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp - Coriander leaves (chopped)
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • How to Make Green Apple and Dal Rasam:

    1. Peel and chop the green apples.
    2. Keep aside half a cup of apple chunks. Pressure cook the remaining apples chunks with toor dal and turmeric powder with enough water up to 3 hisses.
    3. Once they get well cooked, smash the apple and dal mixture nicely. Keep aside.
    4. Heat enough oil. Add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dry red chillies and asafoetida powder. Let it splutter.
    5. Once the spices get well fried, add the apple chunks and saute everything for a while.
    6. Finally add the apple-dal mixture with rasam powder, water, curry leaves, coriander leaves and salt.
    7. Once they starts bubbling, add the lemon juice and put off the stove.
