Ingredients

  • Green Channa - 1 cup
  • Oil - 3 tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Red Chillies - 2 to 3, broken into pieces
  • Asafoetida - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves - a few
  • Green chillies - 2, slit
  • Raw Mango - 1/2 cup, chopped fine
  • Coconut - 1/2 cup, chopped into tiny pieces
  • Salt to taste.
  • How to Make Green Channa, Mango Coconut Sundal:

    1. Soak channa overnight in water.
    2. Drain, add fresh water and 1 tsp salt. Pressure cook for 15 minutes.
    3. Drain away the water, retaining about 1/2 cup.
    4. Heat oil in a kadai, splutter mustard seeds, add chillies, asafoetida and curry leaves.
    5. After few seconds, add channa and green chillies.
    6. Add salt if needed.
    7. Simmer for 8 minutes till the liquid is evaporated.
    8. Stir in the mango and coconut pieces and remove from fire.
    9. Serve.
