Ingredients

  • Green channa - 1 cup
  • Oil - 3 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Red chillies - 2 to 3, broken into pieces
  • Asafoetida - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves - a few
  • Green chillies - 2, slit
  • Raw mango - 1/2 cup, chopped fine
  • Coconut - 1/2 cup, chopped into tiny pieces
  • Salt to taste.

How to Make Green Channa, Mango Coconut Sundal

  • Soak channa overnight in water.
  • Drain, add fresh water and 1 tsp salt. Pressure cook for 15 minutes.
  • Drain away the water, retaining about 1/2 cup.
  • Heat oil in a kadai, splutter mustard seeds, add chillies, asafoetida and curry leaves.
  • After few seconds, add channa and green chillies.
  • Add salt if needed.
  • Simmer for 8 minutes till the liquid is evaporated.
  • Stir in the mango and coconut pieces and remove from fire.
  • Serve.
