Ingredients

  • 2 cup - Basmati Rice
  • 1 cup - green grams (soaked overnight)
  • 1 - Onion (big and chopped)
  • 2 - Green chillies (slit opened)
  • 2 - whole spices (bay leaves, cloves, Cardamom and cinnamon)
  • 1 tsp - ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 cup - Yoghurt
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as required
  • To grind:
  • 1 cup - Coriander leaves (chopped)
  • 2 - Green chillies
  • 1 tbsp - Coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp - peppercorns
  • 1/2 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - Fennel seeds
  • 1 tsp - Garam Masala powder
  • How to Make Green gram Coriander Pulao:

    1. Grind all the mentioned ingredients into a fine paste and keep aside.
    2. Soak Basmati rice with yoghurt and two cups of water, for 10 minutes.
    3. Heat oil in a pressure cooker, fry the whole spices until they turn brown.
    4. Add chopped onions, green chillies, ginger garlic paste and saute.
    5. Add green grams, salt, grounded masala and cook everything on medium flame for 5 minutes.
    6. Drain the soaked yoghurt-water from the rice and add it to the cooking vegetables.
    7. Close the cooker with the lid and let it boil.
    8. Add the soaked rice and stir. Close the lid and put the weight and cook up to 3 whistles.
    9. Serve warm with onion raita.
