Ingredients

  • 1 cup - green gram dal
  • 10 - pearl onions
  • 2 - tomato
  • 1 tbsp - red chilli powder
  • 2 tbsp - coriander powder
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder
  • asafoetida, a pinch
  • curry leaves, small quantity
  • coriander leaves, small quantity
  • 1 tsp - mustard
  • 1 tsp - black gram dal
  • 2 - red chillies
  • 1 tsp - fenugreek

How to Make Green gram dal sambar

  • Wash and soak green gram dal in water and place in cooker, adding 3 cups of water with 1 tsp turmeric powder, asafoetida and a tsp oil.
  • Chop onions, tomatoes and keep other ingredients ready.
  • Heat oil in a kadai, splutter mustard seeds, black gram dal, red chillies, curry leaves and add onions followed by tomatoes.
  • Fry them well.
  • Now add boiled dal to it.
  • Add some salt and mix them well.
  • Allow it to boil for 10 minutes.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
