Ingredients

  • 1 cup - rice
  • 1 cup - whole green gram dhal
  • 4 tsp - ghee
  • 1 tsp - black pepper powder
  • 1.5 tsp - garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp - ginger chopped
  • curry leaves
  • salt according to taste

How to Make Green Gram Dhal Rice

  • In a pressure cooker, add ghee.
  • Add mustard and jeera. Wait till they splutter.
  • Now add the curry leaves and ginger. Saute well.
  • Now add the washed and drained rice and dhal.
  • Add 5 to 6 cups of water (according to the kind of rice).
  • Close the cooker with lid and pressure-cook it for 4 to 5 whistles.
  • Serve hot with pappad.
