  • 1/2 cup - green gram
  • 3 tbsp - grated Coconut
  • 3/4 Cup - grated Jaggery
  • 1 tbsp - Ghee
  • 2 tbsp - cashews
  • 1/2 tsp - Cardamom powder
  • 1 cup - Rice flour
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • How to Make Green gram kozhukattai:

    1. Heat a pan with 1/2 cup water, a tsp of oil and a little salt.
    2. When the water starts to boil, add the rice flour and mix well.
    3. Remove from flame and keep aside covered with a plate.
    4. Add green gram to the pan and fry for 2 mins.
    5. Cook the fried gram in a pressure cooker up to 3 whistles.
    6. Strain the excess water from the cooked green gram and grind it lightly in a mixer.
    7. Add grated jaggery and 1/2 cup water to a heated pan.
    8. Dissolve the jaggery.
    9. Once the jaggery syrup thickens, add grated coconut and ground green gram powder. Mix well and remove from flame.
    10. Fry the cashews in ghee and add it to the green gram mixture.
    11. To this, add cardamom powder.
    12. Take the rice flour mixture in a bowl, sprinkle some warm water and some oil.
    13. Knead to make a dough.
    14. Dip your fingers in oil and take a small ball of dough. Shape into a cup.
    15. Place the pooran in the cup and press to seal.
    16. Repeat the same for the rest of the dough and pooran.
    17. Steam cook kozhukattai in an idli cooker for 5 mins.
    18. Serve hot.
