How to Make Green gram, Potato and Carrot Kootu

  • Roast and grind all the ingredients into a fine paste with enough water.
  • Pressure cook green grams and channa dal with turmeric powder and enough water until 3 whistles and keep aside.
  • Heat enough oil, add mustard seeds, urad dal, asafoetida powder and fry the red chillies until brown.
  • Add onions, curry leaves, green chillies and saute until the onions turn translucent.
  • Add carrots and potatoes and cook for a few minutes.
  • Add the cooked and mashed dals, the ground spice paste and cook everything for a few minutes.
