Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - dry green peas
  • 15 - jackfruit seeds (cooked)
  • 1 - onion (chopped)
  • 1 - tomato (chopped)
  • 3 - green chillies (slit opened)
  • 1/2 tsp - garam masala powder
  • 1 tbsp - coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 2 - bay leaves
  • 1 tsp - ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp - coriander leaves (chopped)
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • To grind:
  • 1 tsp - peppercorns
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp - fennel seeds
  • 1/4 cup - grated coconut
  • 1 tbsp - poppy seeds

How to Make Green Peas and Jackfruit Seeds Kurma

  • Soak the dry green peas overnight and cook in hot water with salt until half cooked, drain the excess of water and keep aside.
  • Grind all the ingredients in the list into a fine paste and keep aside.
  • Heat enough oil in a kadai, add the bay leaves and fry until they turn brown.
  • Add the chopped onions, chopped tomatoes, green chillies, ginger-garlic paste and saute everything.
  • Add the half cooked green peas, jackfruit seeds, turmeric powder and add the grounded paste to the kadai, cook everything on sim for a few minutes.
  • Add coriander powder, garam masala powder, and cook with the lid closed.
  • Add enough water to the kadai and cook on medium flame for a few minutes. Add coriander leaves.
