  • 1 cup - green Spring onions
  • 1 cup - Toor Dal (cooked with Turmeric powder)
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - Urad Dal
  • 2 - dry Red Chillies
  • 1/4 tsp - asafetida powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as required
  • A few sprigs - Curry leaves
  • To grind:
  • 1 tbsp - Fenugreek seeds
  • 2 tbsp - Coriander seeds
  • 1/4 cup - grated Coconut
  • 3 - dry Red Chillies
  • How to Make Green Spring Onions Sambar:

    1. Grind all the ingredients, given in the list, into a fine paste.
    2. Mix the paste with the already cooked toor dal with enough salt and water and keep aside.
    3. Heat enough oil in a pan, fry mustard seeds, urad dal, asafoetida powder and dry red chillies.
    4. Add the chopped green spring onions and curry leaves and cook for a while.
    5. Add the dal mix and bring it to a boil, cook until done.
