Ingredients

  • 1 cup - green spring onions
  • 1 cup - toor dal (cooked with turmeric powder)
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - urad dal
  • 2 - dry red chillies
  • 1/4 tsp - asafetida powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as required
  • A few sprigs - curry leaves
  • To grind:
  • 1 tbsp - fenugreek seeds
  • 2 tbsp - coriander seeds
  • 1/4 cup - grated coconut
  • 3 - dry red chillies

How to Make Green Spring Onions Sambar

  • Grind all the ingredients, given in the list, into a fine paste.
  • Mix the paste with the already cooked toor dal with enough salt and water and keep aside.
  • Heat enough oil in a pan, fry mustard seeds, urad dal, asafoetida powder and dry red chillies.
  • Add the chopped green spring onions and curry leaves and cook for a while.
  • Add the dal mix and bring it to a boil, cook until done.
