  • 500 g - sweet or petite peas
  • 3 cups - plain flour (maida or wheat)
  • 1 - bread slice for bread crumbs
  • 1 - ginger piece for paste
  • 1- 2 - garlic pieces for paste
  • 1 tsp - til
  • 4-5 - green chillies (finely chopped)
  • 2 tsp - lemon juice
  • 2 tsp - sugar
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1 tsp - garam masala
  • chopped coriander leaves
  • salt to taste
  • oil for frying
  • water to knead the flour

How to Make Green Sweet Peas Patties

  • Boil the peas for some time so that they become a little soft.
  • Blend the peas in a mixie to make a paste (but not very smooth).
  • Heat a tbsp of oil in a deep pan and roast the pea paste until it mixes well with the oil.
  • Add green chillies, ginger paste, garlic paste, til, coriander powder, chopped coriander leaves, sugar, lemon juice, garam masala and salt.
  • Mix the ingredients well.
  • Mix the bread crumbs and keep the pea mixture filling aside.
  • For the dough: Add salt to the flour and a tsp of oil.
  • Knead the flour with water until it becomes a pliable dough (not very soft).
  • Take a handful of the dough and roll it to a medium-sized poori.
  • Put a spoonful of the pea mixture, filling in the centre of the poori.
  • To cover the filling, bring the edges of the poori towards the centre and close.
  • Flatten the poori by putting a little pressure.
  • Repeat the procedure to make more pooris.
  • Heat oil in a kadai.
  • Fry the pea patties to golden brown and a bit crisp.
  • Serve hot with green chutney or tomato ketchup.
