Green Tomato Pickle, made of raw(green) firm tomatoes, Apple and Spices, is a tangy, mouthwatering  accompaniment to any Indian meal. Make, seal and store it your larder for the monsoon season. The vinegar improves the longevity and adds to the flavour while the spices add zest and balance to the pickle.This Tomato Achar Goes well with Roti and dal or Rice and Sambar. Did you know that Green tomatoes are a rich source of vitamins and are low in calories? 


  • 250 g - firm green Tomatoes
  • 1 large hard apple, peeled, cored, diced
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp - fresh Mint leaves, finely chopped
  • 10-12 long hot green chillies, chopped
  • 1/4 cup - white Vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp - Cinnamon and Clove powder
  • 2 tbsp - Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • How to Make Green Tomato Pickle:

    1. Heat oil in a heavy pan, add onions and stir.
    2. Add 1 tbsp vinegar, simmer till onions are transparent.
    3. Add tomatoes and apples, cook till mixture is mushy.
    4. Add all other ingredients, allow sugar to dissolve.
    5. Simmer till thick, and there is no water residue.
    6. Pour into sterile jar, cool and seal.
