Ingredients

  • 1 bunch - Mint leaves
  • 1/2 bunch - Coriander leaves
  • 3 - Green chillies
  • 2 tsp - Channa dal
  • 1 tsp - split Urad Dal
  • 1/2 cup - grated Coconut
  • 1/4 Lemon size - Tamarind
  • A small piece of Jaggery
  • 1 pinch - Asafoetida
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp - oil
  • How to Make Greens and Dal Chutney:

    1. Wash the greens and chilli.
    2. Heat oil in the tawa.
    3. Add channa dal. When it turns light brown, add urad dal.
    4. When urad dal turns brown, add mint leaves, coriander leaves, green chillies. Saute for sometime.
    5. Add the tamarind and asafoetida.
    6. When it cools, grind it in a mixer with the rest of the ingredients along with a little water.
    7. The chutney should be a little thick.
    8. This chutney goes with rice and dosa.
