First boil tur dal with tomato. Chop and boil drumstick, brinjal and bottle gourd in some water. Shallow fry the following ingredients for 1 minute - coriander seeds, cumin seeds, dry coconut, sugar, whole red chillies, black pepper - and powder.
Take dal in a big pot, mash very well, add turmeric, coriander-cumin power, salt and mix well. Add some water if required
Heat 5-6 tbsp oil in a pan, temper mustard seeds, cumin seeds. Add curry leaves, 2-3 whole red chilli and onion.
Add dal, then add tur dal masala and cook until it boils.
Add tamarind pulp and 1/2 tsp sugar.
Garnish with coriander leaves.
