Ingredients

  • 1 cup - gram dal
  • 1 cup - powdered Jaggery
  • 1/2 cup - shredded Coconut
  • 2 tbsp - Ghee
  • 1 tsp - Cardamom powder
  • 2 tbsp - Raisins
  • 1 tbsp - cashews
  • How to Make Hayagreeva - Hayagriva Muddy:

    1. Pressure cook the gram dal in 2.5 cups of water for 2-3 whistles or till soft.
    2. Turn off the heat and allow it to cool. After pressure drops, drain the water and gently mash it.
    3. Combine jaggery, gram dal and 1 tbsp of ghee and heat it on medium low heat.
    4. Keep stirring until the mixture thickens and leaves the sides. (This will take approximately 20-40 minutes, depending on the heat)
    5. Add cardamom powder and turn off the heat.
    6. Fry cashews and raisins in the remaining ghee and add to the mixture.
