How to Make Homemade Fresh Figs Marmalade Recipe

  • Wash the figs nicely and chop them.
  • Heat water in a non-stick pan. When the water is about to boil, add the chopped figs.
  • Keep on low flame and keep stirring.
  • Cover the pan and let the figs cook until they are tender. Press the figs a little with a wooden spatula to get them to jam/marmalade-like consistency.
  • Add sugar and mix gently.
  • Add the lemon zest and cook on medium-low flame, stirring occasionally.
  • Cook until the marmalade gets thicker. This could take about 50 minutes.
  • Add the lemon juice, cinnamon powder and turn off the flame.
  • The marmalade will get thicker on cooling.
  • Best served warm or else refrigerate and consume within a week or 10 days.
  • Serve with toast, crackers, biscuits, parantha, cake or ice cream.
