  • 500 g - fresh green Figs
  • 2 cups - granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 - Lemon zest (grated)
  • 1/2 - Lemon (juice extract)
  • 1/4 tsp - Cinnamon powder
  • 1 cup - water
  • How to Make Homemade Fresh Figs Marmalade Recipe:

    1. Wash the figs nicely and chop them.
    2. Heat water in a non-stick pan. When the water is about to boil, add the chopped figs.
    3. Keep on low flame and keep stirring.
    4. Cover the pan and let the figs cook until they are tender. Press the figs a little with a wooden spatula to get them to jam/marmalade-like consistency.
    5. Add sugar and mix gently.
    6. Add the lemon zest and cook on medium-low flame, stirring occasionally.
    7. Cook until the marmalade gets thicker. This could take about 50 minutes.
    8. Add the lemon juice, cinnamon powder and turn off the flame.
    9. The marmalade will get thicker on cooling.
    10. Best served warm or else refrigerate and consume within a week or 10 days.
    11. Serve with toast, crackers, biscuits, parantha, cake or ice cream.
