Ingredients

  • 1 cup - peeled, seeded, and chopped ripe tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp - olive oil
  • 1 - large garlic clove, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp - hot pepper flakes
  • 2 tsp - chopped fresh oregano
  • 1/4 tsp - sugar
  • 1/4 tsp - salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp - ground fennel

How to Make Homemade Pizza Sauce

  • In a large skillet, heat enough olive oil to coat the bottom of the pan.
  • Over medium-low heat, cook garlic and red pepper flakes till the garlic just begins to turn golden.
  • Carefully add tomatoes to the hot oil.
  • Give the sauce a stir, add the ground fennel and oregano, and cook over medium-low heat for 15 to 20 mins until the sauce thickens.
  • Season to taste with salt and black pepper.
