Ingredients

  • 1 cup - cooked basmati Rice (approximately 250 g)
  • 4 - Tomatoes (finely chopped)
  • 2 - Onions (finely chopped)
  • 2 to 3 tbsp - Ghee or oil
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp - black pepper Corns (coarsely ground)
  • 1/2 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 1 Onion (finely sliced and deep fried in oil or Ghee for garnishing)
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Homemade Tomato Rice:

    1. Lightly heat ghee in a kadai. Add the cumin seeds and black pepper powder.
    2. Add the chopped onions and saute till golden.
    3. Add chopped tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes are soft.
    4. Add the cooked rice.
    5. Mix well till the masalas are absorbed but ensure the rice grains do not break.
