Ingredients

  • Tomatoes - 1 kg
  • Chilli powder - 2 tsp
  • Asafoetida - a little
  • Sesame oil - 1 small cup
  • Fenugreek seeds - 1 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
  • How to Make Homemade Tomato Thokku:

    1. Boil tomatoes till the skin gets peeled .
    2. When done, allow it to cool and grind.
    3. In a pan, pour oil and add fenugreek, mustard seeds along with asafoetida.
    4. When it splutters, add tomato paste and when it starts boiling, add chilli powder.
    5. Boil for 30-45 mins until the colour of the thokku becomes dark and the oil starts float.
