Ingredients

  • 1 cup - horse gram
  • 2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 2 tsp - cumin powder
  • 2 tsp - pepper powder
  • 1 tsp - garlic paste
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1 cup - tamarind juice
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • Salt
  • For Seasoning:2 tbsp- oil
  • 2 pods- curshed garlic
  • 2tbsp- chopped onions
  • 1- red chilli, broken
  • 1 tsp- mustard seeds

How to Make Horse Gram Pepper Water

  • Soak the horse gram in water for a few hours.
  • Wash well then pressure cook it with 2 cups of water and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder till soft.
  • Add the chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, pepper powder, garlic paste, tamarind juice and salt and some more water and cook for 10 minutes on low heat.
  • In another vessel, heat the oil, then add curry leaves, crushed garlic, red chilli, mustard seeds and the sliced onion and saute till the onions and garlic turn brown and the mustard seeds splutter.
  • Pour the horse gram and pepper water mixture into this seasoning.
  • Add more water if required.
  • Serve hot with plain rice and coconut chutney.
