Ingredients

  • 1 cup - horse gram
  • 2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1 tsp - cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - cumin powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 - onions, chopped
  • 4 or 5 Curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp - oil

How to Make Horse gram Side Dish

  • Soak horse gram in water for a few hours.
  • Wash well and pressure cook it with 2 cups of water and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder till cooked but ensure that it is not too soft.
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry the onions and curry leaves till they turn golden brown.
  • Add the cooked horse gram, chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder and salt and stir well.
  • Simmer on low heat for a few minutes.
  • Serve as a side dish with rice or bread.
