Ingredients

  • White fish slices - 1/2 kg
  • Tamarind - size of Lime
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves - a few
  • Chopped Onion - 1/2 cup
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 2 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • How to Make Hot and Sour Fish Curry:

    1. Wash the fish well and rub with 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, wash again, drain well.
    2. Soak tamarind in 1 cup of hot water and extract the juice.
    3. Heat oil and, temper with mustard and curry leaves.
    4. Add onions and fry till light brown.
    5. Add chilli powder, coriander powder and 1/2 cup water.
    6. Simmer for 5 mins.
    7. Add the tamarind extract.
    8. Simmer for 3 mins.
    9. Add fish slices and salt.
    10. Cover and simmer till the fish is cooked.
    11. Serve.
