Ingredients

  • 1 - Ridge gourd
  • 1 tsp - Channa dal
  • 1 tsp - Urad Dal
  • A few red chillies, as per taste
  • 5-6 tsp - desiccated Coconut
  • 1 tsp - Tamarind paste
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • A pinch of Asafoetida
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds for seasoning
  • 3 tsp - oil for seasoning
  • How to Make Hot Ridge gourd Chutney:

    1. Wash and peel the skin of the ridge gourd.
    2. Roast channa dal, urad dal, red chillies and asafoetida in a frying pan. Keep them aside.
    3. Roast the peeled skin of ridge gourd in the same frying pan. Allow to cool.
    4. Grind the roasted items with coconut, tamarind, turmeric powder and salt to a smooth paste.
    5. Heat the oil, add mustard seeds, and once they sputter, add this to the ground paste.
    6. Serve as side dish
