  • Ingredients for filling:
  • 1 cup - Channa dal (soaked)
  • 1 tbsp - Carrot (grated)
  • 1 tbsp - beans, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp - capsicum, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp - green peas, boiled and crushed
  • 1 tbsp - sweet corn, boiled
  • 1 tbsp - onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp - Ginger and Garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp - green chillies, minced
  • 1/2 tsp - Cinnamon and Cloves powder
  • 2 tsp - grated Coconut
  • Salt to taste
  • Ingredients to make covering:
  • 1 cup - Rice flour
  • Salt, a pinch
  • Water as required

How to Make Hot veg modak

  • Sieve rice flour and salt in a broad plate.
  • Add boiling water little by little and keep mixing with spatula.
  • Knead the mixture with hand to make a soft dough.
  • Coarsely grind soaked chana dal without water and mix with all other ingredients.
  • Make small balls of the dough and roll them into round shapes.
  • Keep a spoonfull of filing in the centre of rolled out the dough; fold and shape like a modak.
  • Place the modaks on a greased plate and steam in a steamer or pressure cooker for 7 to 8 minutes on a low flame.
  • Remove and serve hot.
