How to Make Hotel Sambar

  • Dry roast coriander, fenugreek, red chillies in a pan and powder it in a mixer.
  • Take 2 tsp oil in a vessel, add the toor dal, 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder with a little water and cook it well till it becomes soft.
  • Remove dal and keep aside.
  • Into that water, add tomatoes, onion, asafoetida and allow them to cook well.
  • Mash the cooked dal and a little tamarind juice (made with a little water).
  • Add the required salt after everything is cooked well.
  • Add 3 tsp of the sambar powder made and cook it till the raw smell of the powder goes.
  • Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve.
