Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg - Meat
  • 1.5 tsp - Ginger garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 2 to 3 - Green chillies
  • 6 to 8 sticks - Coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp - Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 3-4 - Tamarind pieces soaked in water for 4-10 mins and use this tamarind juice.
  • Grinding (Masala)
  • 4 tbsp - Crushed coconut
  • 4 tbsp - Till
  • 4 tbsp - Groundnut
  • 2 tbsp - Dried coriander seed or powder
  • 2 tbsp - Cumin powder
  • 1 onion - Cut into slices and half fry in oil then grind it to paste

How to Make Hyderabadi Mahekhalya

  • First grind the masala ingredient to a fine paste.
  • Wash the meat thoroughly.
  • Apply the ground masala on to the meat.
  • Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, ginger garlic paste, green chilli, ground masala and salt.
  • Mix well with a little water.
  • Keep the pressure cooker on low flame.
  • Heat oil in it and add cumin and mustard seeds.
  • Once it turns dark brown, put in all mixed ingredients into the oil. Stir till it leaves oil from the sides.
  • Add the tamarind water little by little (according to taste)
  • Now add some water.
  • Put coriander leaves. Pressure cook it for 5 mins.
  • Serve with Roti or Rice.
