  • 1 cup - ordinary Rice
  • 1 cup - parboiled Rice
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • salt to taste
  • water
  • How to Make Idiappam:

    1. Wash and soak rice together. Leave overnight.
    2. Grind together to a fine paste.
    3. Keep aside for 5-6 hours.
    4. Steam in an idli cooker till done.
    5. Use skewer test.
    6. Grease a sev press. Place warm dough in it and press.
    7. Press out sev in a 4 inch circle. See that ends overlap.
    8. Allow to cool a bit. Use greased palms and lift.
    9. Place in a double walled colander or steamer to keep warm.
    10. Serve hot with ghee and chutney, garnished with coconut and coriander.
