Ingredients

  • Idlis - 6
  • Oil - to deep fry
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Fennel - 1 tsp
  • Cloves - 2
  • Cinnamon - 1 piece
  • Green chilli - 1, slit
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Onion - 1/2 cup, sliced
  • Ginger - Garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp or to taste
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • Tomato - 1/2 cup, chopped
  • Salt - to taste
  • Coriander leaves - 1 tbsp, chopped
  • How to Make Idly Koottu:

    1. Cut each idly into 6 pieces.
    2. Deep fry in hot oil till golden brown.
    3. Heat 2 tbsp of oil and add fennel, cloves and cinnamon.
    4. Fry for few seconds and add green chilli, curry leaves and onion.
    5. Fry till onion is light brown.
    6. Add ginger garlic paste and all the powders.
    7. Fry for 1/2minute.
    8. Add tomato and simmer till it is reduced to a pulp.
    9. Add idly pieces and salt.
    10. Mix well and remove from fire.
    11. Serve garnished with coriander leaves.
    12. Serve.
