Ingredients

  • 1 lb - crab, cleaned, with shells on
  • 5-6 - Garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1/2" piece - ginger, finely chopped
  • 2 - green chillies, slit
  • 1/2 tsp - Tamarind pulp
  • 1 - small Tomato
  • 2 - Shallots
  • 1 bunch - Coriander leaves
  • a few Curry leaves
  • 1 - small Red Chilli
  • 1 tsp - Garam Masala powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - chilli powder
  • salt to taste
  • vegetable oil
  • How to Make Indian Crab Masala:

    1. Heat oil in a pan.
    2. Add the curry leaves, red chilli, ginger and garlic. Saute for a few minutes.
    3. Add the chopped shallots and fry until soft.
    4. Add green chillies, tamarind pulp and the powders to the masala.
    5. Add the chopped tomato and the crab and mix well.
    6. Add 1/2 glass of water and salt and cook on low flame until the crab is cooked.
    7. Garnish with chopped coriander.
