Ingredients

  • 1 lb - crab, cleaned, with shells on
  • 5-6 - garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1/2" piece - ginger, finely chopped
  • 2 - green chillies, slit
  • 1/2 tsp - tamarind pulp
  • 1 - small tomato
  • 2 - shallots
  • 1 bunch - coriander leaves
  • a few curry leaves
  • 1 - small red chilli
  • 1 tsp - garam masala powder
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - chilli powder
  • salt to taste
  • vegetable oil

How to Make Indian Crab Masala

  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add the curry leaves, red chilli, ginger and garlic. Saute for a few minutes.
  • Add the chopped shallots and fry until soft.
  • Add green chillies, tamarind pulp and the powders to the masala.
  • Add the chopped tomato and the crab and mix well.
  • Add 1/2 glass of water and salt and cook on low flame until the crab is cooked.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander.
