Ingredients

  • 1 bunch spinach, washed and chopped
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 1/4 tsp - garlic-ginger paste
  • 1 tsp - fennel/shahi Jeera
  • 2-3 Cinnamon sticks
  • 2 tbsp - Garam Masala powder
  • 4-5 Cloves
  • 2-3 - green chillies, slit
  • 1.5 cups - basmati Rice
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • How to Make Indian style Palak rice:

    1. Wash and soak basmati rice for 1/2 an hour.
    2. Heat oil in a cooker, heat oil and fry cinnamon, cloves, shahi jeera.
    3. After they splutter, add green chillies and onions, fry till golden brown.
    4. Now add spinach and stir for 2 minutes.
    5. Then add sufficient water and rice and pressure cook up to 2 whistles.
