How to Make Italian Flat beans Paruppu Usili

  • Soak the dals for 2 hours, drain it
  • Grind the dals with green chillies, red chillies, salt, asafoetida powder coarsely, add the ginger to the paste
  • Steam the ground mixture for about 10 mins in a steamer and keep aside
  • When it cools, crumble it.
  • Heat oil in a pan, splutter the mustard seeds and urad dal.
  • Add the chopped onion and slit green chillies and curry leaves. Saute until the onion turns translucent.
  • Add the chopped Italian flat beans, saute for a few mins and simmer with salt until done
  • Add the scrambled dal to the cooked Italian beans and cook everything in medium high flame for 5 mins.
  • Finally add the grated coconut and toss gently
  • Serve hot.
