How to Make Jhatpat Masala Khichadi

  • Wash rice and tuvar dal and keep for 10 mins.
  • In a pressure pan, heat some oil and put mustard seeds.
  • When they crackle, add asafoetida, finely chopped garlic and red chillies.
  • Then add turmeric powder, chopped onions, potatoes and tomato.
  • Saute for 2 mins.
  • Then add the washed rice and tuvar dal.
  • Saute till it mixes.
  • Then add dhania-jeera powder and salt as per taste and warm water.
  • Lastly add lemon juice and cook for 10 mins, after 1 whistle (tuvar dal should be properly cooked).
  • Serve hot with papad and pickle.
