Ingredients

  • 1 cup - besan
  • 1 - onion, medium sized, chopped
  • 1-2 tbsp - water
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Jeera powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Sugar (optional)
  • 1 tsp - Lime juice
  • 1 tbsp - cooking oil
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1 strand - Curry leaves
  • 2-3 strands - cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp - grated Coconut (optional)
  • Salt as per taste
  • How to Make Jhunka:

    1. Heat oil in a pan, temper mustard seeds and curry leaves.
    2. Add the chopped onions and fry until they turn light brown.
    3. Add haldi, chilli powder, jeera powder, salt, and sugar and mix well, cook for a minute.
    4. Add besan to it and roast for about a minute.
    5. Add water a little at a time until the mixture turns into a single lump.
    6. Stir continuously to make sure no lumps are formed.
    7. Cook covered for about a minute or two, but stir regularly.
    8. Remove from flame, add grated coconut, chopped cilantro, and lime juice and mix well.
    9. Serve hot with rotis or chapattis.
