Ingredients

  • 1 cup - besan
  • 1 - onion, medium sized, chopped
  • 1-2 tbsp - water
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Jeera powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Sugar (optional)
  • 1 tsp - Lime juice
  • 1 tbsp - cooking oil
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 1 strand - Curry leaves
  • 2-3 strands - cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp - grated Coconut (optional)
  • Salt as per taste

How to Make

  • Heat oil in a pan, temper mustard seeds and curry leaves.
  • Add the chopped onions and fry until they turn light brown.
  • Add haldi, chilli powder, jeera powder, salt, and sugar and mix well, cook for a minute.
  • Add besan to it and roast for about a minute.
  • Add water a little at a time until the mixture turns into a single lump.
  • Stir continuously to make sure no lumps are formed.
  • Cook covered for about a minute or two, but stir regularly.
  • Remove from flame, add grated coconut, chopped cilantro, and lime juice and mix well.
  • Serve hot with rotis or chapattis.
