Ingredients

  • 500 g - minced mutton
  • 1/2 cup - onion, finely sliced
  • 1/2 cup - tomato, chopped
  • 1/2 cup - cashew nuts
  • 1/2 cup - grated coconut
  • 3 cm piece - ginger
  • 4 flakes - garlic
  • 1/2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 3 tbsp - oil
  • 4 cloves
  • 2 pieces cinnamon
  • 4 cardamom
  • salt to taste
  • coriander leaves to garnish

How to Make Kaaju Kheema

  • Soak the cashew nuts in hot water for 1 hour.
  • Grind coconut with ginger and garlic to a smooth paste.
  • Mix all the powders with the coconut paste.
  • Heat the oil. Add cloves, cinnamon and cardamom.
  • Add onion and fry till golden brown.
  • Add the Masala paste and fry till fragrant.
  • Add tomatoes and cook till they become pulpy.
  • Add the minced mutton and fry for 3-5 minutes.
  • Add salt, cashew nuts (drained from soaking water) and about 1 cup of hot water.
  • Cover and simmer till the mutton is cooked.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with Parathas or Rotis.
