  • 1/2 cup - sour Curd
  • 2 pods - Garlic
  • 1/2 - Onion
  • 2 - red whole chillies
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin seed, Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds for spluttering
  • 1/4 tsp - Fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • One cup - grated Coconut
  • How to Make Kalan Curry:

    1. First make a coconut paste with the above ingredients except for the red whole chillies, turmeric powder, fenugreek seeds and curd.
    2. Put the curd into the mixer and run for a second so that no lumps are seen.
    3. Put a pan on the gas and pour two tbsp of coconut oil.
    4. When the oil gets heated, put the mustard seeds, red whole chillies and fenugreek seeds and fry till they are golden brown.
    5. Now put the coconut paste, lower the heat and start pouring the curd into it, and also put 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder.
    6. Let it simmer in the pan for a minute in low heat.
    7. Now your kalan curry is ready, put one cup of boiled white petha or boiled raw banana, colocassia and yam.
