Ingredients

  • 500 g - rice flour
  • Coconut Milk - as required
  • 500 g - rice flour
  • 75 g - urad dal
  • 75 g - sugar
  • 1 tsp - cardamom powder

How to Make Kalkals

  • Wash and soak dal in water for about 5 hours.
  • Drain and grind to a smooth paste. Mix with flour and enough coconut milk to make a soft and pliable dough.
  • Put 3 cups of water in sugar and prepare a syrup of one-thread consistency.
  • Put in cardamoms, remove from fire and keep it warm.
  • Now take small pieces of dough and flatten out on a fork, then roll each piece off so that the design of the fork will be imprinted on it.
  • Deep fry till crisp and golden, drain and put into the syrup and mix them thoroughly.
  • Now separate each kalkal and place them on a clean plate, leaving them to turn dry and hard. You can store them in an air-tight container.
