Ingredients

  • For vadas:
  • 200 g - Urad Dal
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil for deep frying
  • For kanji:
  • 2 tsp - salt
  • 2 tsp - mustard powder
  • 2 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 1 pinch - Hing
  • 1.5 litres - water
  • 1 - earthen pot
  • How to Make Kanji Ka Vada:

    1. For vadas:
    2. Wash and soak dal for 4-5 hours or overnight.
    3. Grind to a smooth thick paste.
    4. Batter should be thick enough to make lumps in oil.
    5. Add salt as per taste.
    6. Whisk the mixture to make it fluffy.
    7. Heat oil in a frying pan.
    8. When hot, add dumplings the size of ping pong balls.
    9. Fry on medium heat, till golden brown.
    10. Drain, keep aside.
    11. Repeat with all batter.
    12. For Kanji:
    13. Pour water in the earthen pot.
    14. Add all the ingredients in it.
    15. Put the vadas in water.
    16. Cover the earthen pot with muslin cloth and tie it.
    17. Keep the covered pot in sun for 3-4 days
    18. Serve the vadas with the kanji.
