Ingredients

  • 250 gms. medium-sized Karela (prepare and cook the Karelas in earlier recipe and keep aside)
  • 2 tsp - salt
  • Oil for frying
  • 2 tsp - coriander powder
  • 3/4 tsp - chilli powder
  • For the gravy:
  • 1/4 cup - oil or 1/2 cup - Butter or 1/4 cup - Butter
  • 1 large-sized Onion (ground to a paste)
  • 1 tsp - each Ginger and Garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
  • 3/4 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1 cup - Tomato puree
  • 1/2 tsp - Sugar to taste
  • 2-3 tbsp - cream1-2 tsp - Garam Masala
  • For garnishing:
  • Coriander leaves (chopped)
  • How to Make Karela butter masala:

    1. Fry onions, garlic and ginger paste in oil and butter for a minute.
    2. Add the tomato puree, salt, coriander powder and chilli powder.
    3. Cook till butter floats on the top.
    4. Add fried karela and 1/2-3/4 cup - of water.
    5. Simmer the karela for 15-20 mins.
    6. Add cream, sprinkle garam masala and chopped green coriander leaves before serving.
