Ingredients

  • 1 - whole chicken
  • 2 - sticks tej
  • 1 tsp - hing
  • Salt
  • 2.5 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - jeera powder
  • 15 - almonds
  • 4 inch piece ginger
  • 3 - black cardamom
  • 3 cups -curds
  • 1 tsp - garam masala
  • 1and1/2 tsp - dhania powder
  • 5 tbsps - ghee
  • 5 - potatoes

How to Make Kashmiri Chicken

  • Wash chicken and cut into pieces. Grind ginger.
  • Heat ghee season, with tej, cardamom and asafoetida.
  • Add chicken, ground ginger, curds, salt and cover and simmer for 10 mins.
  • Add chilli, cumin and coriander powder.
  • Cover and cook chicken.
  • The ingredients will stick to the bottom, so stir every few mins.
  • Cook till all water evaporates and ghee oozes out.
  • Sprinkle garam masala.
  • Meanwhile, steam potatoes and cut into two.
  • Then fry.
  • Now add chicken to it.
  • Blanch almonds, slice and fry, and sprinkle on chicken.
  • Pour 1 cup of hot water.
  • Bring to a boil.
