Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg chicken - cut into small pieces
  • 3 big onions - cut into small light slices
  • 2 red tomatoes - cut into small pieces
  • 4 long green chillies - cut into small pieces
  • 3 tsp - ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 2 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp - pepper power
  • 3 tsp - curry masala (Patta, grambu, Jeera, cardamom, curry masala etc)
  • 4 tsp - oil
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard
  • 10 - curry leaves
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Kerala Christian Chicken Masala

  • Mix chicken with chilly powder and turmeric. Marinate for a half an hour.
  • Pour oil in a hot pan. Add mustard and curry leaves.
  • Then add ginger garlic paste and fry it till golden brown.
  • Add coriander powder, pepper and curry masala. Mix well.
  • Add onions and fry till golden brown.
  • Add green chillies and tomatoes. Once the gravy is mixed well, add the marinated chicken pieces.
  • Mix well and cook for 20 minutes. Try not to pour water.
  • If it is too dry then pour just enough water to cook the chicken.
  • Cook till the curry is dry.
  • Garnish with mint and coriander leaves.
