Ingredients

  • 2 cups - raw Rice (pachaarisi)
  • 1 cup - grated Coconut
  • Salt to taste
  • Water to sprinkle
  • How to Make Kerala Puttu (Kuzhal Puttu) Recipe:

    1. For Rice Flour:
    2. Soak the rice for about 3 hours and strain it.
    3. Spread the rice in a cloth or a plate and dry the same.
    4. Grind the dried rice to a fine powder.
    5. For Puttu:
    6. Add salt and water. Add some water and mix it well. Try to make a lump out of the wet mixture and ensure that the lump does not break off.
    7. Now add the handful of grated coconut in the puttu maker followed by three handfuls of rice flour and again followed by one handful of grated coconut.
    8. Follow this step till you reach the top of the cylinder.
    9. Close the lid and steam it for 2-3 minutes.
