Ingredients

  • 2 cups - raw Rice (pachaarisi)
  • 1 cup - grated Coconut
  • Salt to taste
  • Water to sprinkle

How to Make Kerala Puttu (Kuzhal Puttu) Recipe

  • For Rice Flour:
  • Soak the rice for about 3 hours and strain it.
  • Spread the rice in a cloth or a plate and dry the same.
  • Grind the dried rice to a fine powder.
  • For Puttu:
  • Add salt and water. Add some water and mix it well. Try to make a lump out of the wet mixture and ensure that the lump does not break off.
  • Now add the handful of grated coconut in the puttu maker followed by three handfuls of rice flour and again followed by one handful of grated coconut.
  • Follow this step till you reach the top of the cylinder.
  • Close the lid and steam it for 2-3 minutes.
