How to Make Kesar Peda

  • Boil the milk and start stirring from the very beginning to make thick mawa.
  • When the mawa thickens add sugar.
  • When the sugar is added the mawa will slightly loosen. Hence heat on a low flame.
  • When sufficiently thick add cardamom powder, nutmeg powder and paste of saffron.
  • Mix well and allow it to cool down.
  • Knead (rub) the mawa well and make pedas.
  • To make saffron paste:
  • Soak a few strands of saffron in a tbsp of water or milk for about 5 minutes.
  • Grind with a metal or stone pestle.
  • If milk is used for preparing the paste then it has to be used up and cannot be kept for later use.
