Ingredients

  • 2 cup - moong dal (split green gram)
  • 1 cup - rice
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp - cumin seeds
  • salt to taste
  • 4 tbsp - butter or ghee
  • 1 tsp - chopped coriander
  • For raita:
  • 2 cup - plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup - chopped tomato
  • 2 tbsp - chopped onion
  • rock salt to taste
  • 1 tsp - roasted cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp - dried mint leaves

How to Make Khichdi with tomato raita

  • For khichdi:
  • Cook washed dal and rice in a pressure cooker with salt, turmeric powder and two glass water for 3 whistles.
  • Heat ghee in a pan add cumin seeds as it started crackle transfer it over cooked khichdi.
  • Garnish with coriander.
  • For raita:
  • Mix first three ingredients in a bowl, season with salt and cumin seeds, and garnish with dried or fresh mint leaves.
  • Keep in fridge, serve chilled with khichdi.
