  • 100 g - poppy seeds
  • 8 tbsp - sugar
  • 8 tbsp - ghee
  • ½ liter - milk
  • 8 to 9 green cardamoms (powdered)
  • 15 almonds (finely sliced)

How to Make Khus Khus Jo Seero (Poopy Seeds Halwa)

  • Soak the poppy seeds in water overnight.
  • Wash in such a way that any residual mud is deposited at the bottom.
  • Heat ghee in a heavy bottomed vessel.
  • Add the poppy seeds and fry, stirring continuously on a low flame till it turns deep golden brown.
  • Immediately add the milk and powdered cardamoms. Keep stirring.
  • When the milk dries up add sugar and saute on a slow flame for 10 more minutes taking care that it does not stick bottom of the vessel.
  • Place the vessel on a preheated tawa and let it simmer for few minutes.
  • Serve hot, garnished with sliced almonds.
