Ingredients

  • 2 cups - Rice flour
  • 1/2 cup - All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup - Wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup - Roasted gram flour/pottukadalai maavu
  • 1/2 cup - Desiccated coconut or copra
  • 1/4 tsp - Asafetida powder
  • 1 tbsp - Ghee
  • Salt
  • 1 tsp - Chilli powder
  • Oil for frying

How to Make Kodubale

  • Dry roast the desiccated coconut and grind to a fine powder.
  • Dry roast both the all-purpose flour and wheat flour on low flame until they turn light golden brown.
  • Put the flour, coconut powder, asafoetida powder, ghee, salt and chilli powder in a large bowl.
  • Gradually add water and knead into a soft dough.
  • Take a small ball from the dough and roll into a log.
  • Join both the ends to form a ring.
  • Continue the process until the dough is finished.
  • Heat oil for frying on medium flame.
  • Gently drop the rolled kodubale into the oil, and fry them in small batches until well fried.
  • Drain the excess oil with a paper towel and store in an air-tight box.
