Ingredients

  • Koftas
  • 125 g - amul cheese - mashed
  • 50 g - cornflour
  • 1/2 tsp - pepper powder
  • Oil for frying
  • Gravy:
  • 250 g - onion - grated
  • 200 g - tomatoes - pureed
  • 3 cm piece ginger - ground
  • 1/2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - garam masala
  • 200 g - oil
  • 3/4 tsp - salt

How to Make Kofta lajawab

  • Mix mashed cheese with cornflour and pepper. Knead well.
  • Form into walnut-sized koftas and deep fry till light brown. Drain and keep aside.
  • To make gravy, heat oil in a pan and brown onions.
  • Add ginger and fry well.
  • Add tomatoes, turmeric, red chilli and garam masala and fry on a low fire till oil separates.
  • Add water according to the consistency of gravy required.
  • Correct seasoning.
  • Boil for 5 minutes. Add koftas and boil for a further two minutes.
  • Serve hot with parathas or tandoori rotis.
  • Makes about 8.
