Ingredients

  • 1 kg - Chicken
  • 500 gms - Kol Posola (banana pith)
  • 2 - Onions (large)
  • 1 - Tomato
  • 1 - Ginger (thumb-sized piece)
  • 10 pods - Garlic
  • 1 tbsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp - peppercorn
  • 1 inch - Cinnamon
  • 4-5 - Cardamoms
  • 5-6 - Green chillies
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • Mustard oil
  • Salt
  • How to Make Kol Posolar logot Kukurar Mongoh:

    1. Cut the banana pith into small circular pieces.
    2. Add to water immediately for 2-3 hours.
    3. Drain the water, add a little salt, mix and squeeze the liquid to a separate bowl.
    4. Keep aside the banana pith pieces and the liquid separately.
    5. Heat mustard oil in a cooking pan.
    6. Cut and add one onion, fry till golden brown.
    7. Add a little turmeric powder and salt to taste, mix well.
    8. Now add the banana pith pieces, stir fry.
    9. After 2-3 minutes, add the chicken, mix well and cover with a lid.
    10. Make a paste of onion, tomato, ginger, garlic, cumin seed, peppercorn, cinnamon, cardamom and green chilli.
    11. Add the paste and mix well, cover again.
    12. After 2-3 minutes add the squeezed liquid, mix well again, cover and cook on low flame until done.
