Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - Kollu / Horse gram
  • 1 - Tomato, roughly chopped
  • 2 tsp - Tamarind pulp (optional)
  • 2 tsp - finely chopped Coriander leaves
  • Salt - to taste
  • To Temper:
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  • 2 - small Red Chillies
  • A few Curry leaves
  • Hing - A generous pinch
  • 1 tsp - Oil
  • To crush coarsely :
  • 3 - Garlic pods
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • 10 - Peppercorns
  • How to Make Kollu Sundal:

    1. Heat oil in a pan add the items listed under 'to temper'.
    2. Then add required salt, turmeric powder and hing.
    3. Add the cooked kollu and saute for a minute.
    4. Then add tomatoes and saute till it turns slightly turns brown.
