Ingredients

  • Cabbage - 1 kg
  • Green peas - 1/2 cup
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Onion - 1 cup, sliced
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Green chillies - 3, slit
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Kosu Pattani Poriyal

  • Cut the cabbage into thin strips, discarding the hard stems.
  • Boil green peas till almost cooked.
  • Heat oil in a kadai. Add mustard and cumin seeds.
  • When they splutter, add onion and green chillies.
  • Fry till onion is light brown.
  • Add cabbage, peas and salt.
  • Leave on low flame till cabbage is cooked. (Do not add water).
  • If there is still some water left in the kadai, cook on high heat, stirring briskly till the liquid evaporates.
  • Stir in the coconut and serve.
