Ingredients

  • Chicken - 3 lbs
  • Onion - 300 gm
  • Ginger - 2 inch piece
  • Garlic - 4 Cloves
  • Green chilli - 4
  • Tomato - 1, medium size
  • Vinegar - 1 tbsp
  • Curd - 3 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder 1.5 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Garam Masala 1/2 tsp
  • Biryani masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Ingredients for Rice:
  • Basmati Rice - 3 cups
  • Sandwich cheese - 3 slices
  • Kewra water - 4 drops
  • Cinnamon - 2 inch piece
  • Cardamom - 6 | Cloves - 8
  • Saffron - 1 pinch
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Butter - 50 gm
  • How to Make Layered Chicken Biryani:

    1. Cut the chicken into 1.5 inch pieces, wash and drain.
    2. Cut onion, ginger, garlic, green chilli, tomato in small pieces and blend to a paste.
    3. Marinate the chicken with curd, vinegar, turmeric powder, coriander powder, chilli powder and the ginger-garlic paste for an hour or more.
    4. Take the rice in the rice cooker, add 6 cups of water and all the ingredients for rice - except butter - and set it to cook.
    5. Now, heat a heavy bottomed pan, pour the oil and then the marinated chicken and cook till the chicken is soft.
    6. Add salt, cover with a lid and cook till it is tender.
    7. Add the garam masala and the biriyani masala.
    8. Take another heavy bottomed pan, heat it, add the butter and turn off the oven.
    9. Add the cooked rice in butter and mix slowly and carefully so that the rice grains don't break.
    10. Take the serving tray, pour a layer of rice, add a layer of chicken and then another layer of rice and then chicken.
    11. Lastly, sprinkle some rice over the chicken and cover the serving tray.
