Ingredients

  • Leftover Dal (and/or Sambhar)
  • 1/2 cup each of Wheat flour, Rice flour, gram flour
  • a Clove of Garlic (grated or finely cut)
  • 2 Green chillies (finely cut)
  • asafoetida, Turmeric powder and salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp oil and oil for shallow fry or deep fry
  • How to Make Leftover Dal Pancakes:

    1. Add all the ingredients including 1/2 tsp oil together.
    2. For deep frying, roll into small Pooris and deep fry in Kadai.
    3. For shallow frying, add water if necessary so as to make the mixture like pancakes (or Uttappam, Dosa, etc).
    4. Put a little oil on a griddle and spread 2 tbsp (or as appropriate) of the mixture. Turn and add 2-3 drops of oil at the sides.
    5. Serve with Ketchup or coconut Chutney or pickle.
